Complete Red Dead Redemption 2 Treasure Hunter missions
A crucial guide to get 100% of the story mode.
if you’re forrarte dollars without doing the trick infinite money or if you just want to have a fun time: the missions cazatesoros are for you. In this guide, we explain how to complete the three treasure hunter chains available in RDR 2 (“Jack Hall Gang”, “High Risk Treasure” and “Le trésor des morts”), but if you need more help with any quest or collectible drop by for the complete guide to Red Dead Redemption 2 .
How exactly do they work? The truth is that it is a bit chaotic, but that is where the fun of these missions is: from chapter 2 (practically as soon as you can explore the map freely, go) you will be able to get hold of treasure maps, although it is not as simple as “the X marks the place”, no. Each mission consists of four maps, but to get the last and final one you will have to get the previous three, which are merely clues. Pretty much the whole process comes down to thinking a bit, so we recommend that you only turn to this guide if you really get stuck.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Guide – Cheats, Tips and Secrets
Jack Hall BandAvailable upon reaching Chapter 2
The first step in starting this chain of treasure hunters is to go to Flatneck station and talk to Máximo, an NPC who will sell you the first map for $ 10. You can buy it from him, decline it to be lowered to 5, or even steal it from him. If something happens that prevents you from getting it, such as killing it and not picking it up, you can buy it from the fencers later. The map in question points to a mountainous area called Asiento de Calibán, north of Mirador de la Herradura. Just follow the cliff ledge to find the second map.
Now go to the second point: the Cotorra spring. You will recognize the location of the map because there are several piles of rocks forming a suspicious circle of about 8 meters in diameter. The following map is hidden in one of those piles. The final treasure is in O’Creagh’s Run, among the bushes of a small islet in the middle of the lake. You can identify it from a distance because there are a couple of trees sticking out of the water.
High Risk TreasuryAvailable after completing “The New South” (Chapter 3)
To start this quest, you must first meet the requirement above, and you must also finish a Chance Treasure Hunter encounter , which appears in eight potential locations. We recommend that you try your luck south of the area marked “map 2” in this section, because following the Dakota River there are more than three possible encounters of this type. Eventually you will find a man watching with binoculars that you must take down at all costs, running towards him or tying him with a lasso before he can escape on horseback. If you miss it three times, you can buy the map instead of trying again.
Good: the first location takes us to the Cumberland Falls, although we actually have to go behind them. If you look at them from the front, you will see that there is a path to their right that you can travel. The next map is in a hole in the wall behind the waterfall. Next step! We’re going to Barrow Pond, in the frozen Grizzlies area. You will find the map hidden inside a tree trunk that is fallen and stuck as a bridge between two rocks, bordering the lake.
The treasure is found on a cliff to the southwest of Bacchus Station. It has a winding path that you must take careful not to fall until you find a handful of gold bars on a ledge. Worth it!
The tresor des mortsAvailable in special editions of RDR 2
Assuming you have access to this DLC , you can play this mission by heading to the Limpany ruins, north of Flatneck Station. You may already know this site by heart because it is also the place where the gold bullion trick that we linked above is done. Head to the jail and grab the treasure map from one of the two corpses inside.
The map takes us to the port of Saint Denis, specifically to a building called Cornwall Freight Station. You will have to continue in the direction of the pier, but the water only covers you up to the hips. The map is in a hole in the wall that is in a tunnel that connects the docks and the building we told you about earlier.
Next we go to the Saint Denis cemetery. The treasure contains no less than six gold bars, which you can retrieve from a hole in the wall of a glass-paneled building, looking west from the center.
