In addition to the gold coins debuting in the Shadow of the Colossus remake for PS4, there are also quite a few unlockables that can extend the hours you spend on the Bluepoint video game. Most of the bonus modes will sound like anyone squeezing the PlayStation 2 original, but it also has a few surprises in store for everyone. In this guide, we tell you what these additional modes are, how they are achieved and what they consist of.
Extra modes for completing the game onceMost modes and additional content in Shadow of the Colossus are achieved by completing the game for the first time, although there are also some that are unlocked by default on the PS4 version compared to the original.
Guide to get the Sword of Dormin in Shadow of the Colossus
- The New Game Plus (NG +) mode allows you to restart the game, but preserving your health and stamina. This is key to getting all the gold coins introduced in the remake, because some require you to have a huge amount of stamina. You will need to complete about three rounds of NG + in order to access all the special content.
- The hard way is available from the beginning in the remake of PS4. Wander’s damage is increased, and his stamina drops faster. It also removes all tutorials from the game, but in exchange for all this adds new weaknesses to the colossi.
- After completing the game for the first time, go to the Shrine of Worship and pray to the colossus to start a time challenge . It is available in both normal and hard modes, although the rewards are better in the hardest.
- There is a special boss battle recall mode that is unlocked by destroying a colossus, which involves going back to where you defeated it and praying to the boss. You will be able to play that level again with a special filter, but you will not get additional rewards if you win.
Time challengeAs we said, the time trial mode is unlocked after completing the game for the first time and praying to the colossus of the Shrine of Adoration . It consists of a series of colossi that you must defeat in a row and with a time limit that is much more generous in normal mode than in hard mode, as you would expect. Every time you successfully complete two missions, you will get a new collectible in the pond between each challenge.
