Design and Construction

The Cubot P40 does not represent a revolution in terms of appearance in the world of Smartphones. This doesn’t have to be a negative though, as it opts for a heavily used traditional build in the high-end from a couple of years ago.

The front of the terminal eliminates any interface it might have and tries to allocate it entirely to the screen, with very small side bezels that result in a monitor-to-body ratio of 90.3% . The front camera is in a notch, which can be annoying for some users, but can be masked by the phone software.

As with other devices, the right side has the volume and power / lock buttons. On the upper side you will only find the 3.5mm port for headphones, while on the lower side a USB type C input and the stereo horns have been located . Finally, the back is home to the main camera made up of 4 sensors with an L-shaped distribution on a rectangular protrusion.

Something that should be noted about the Cubot P40 is that its back cover (available in blue, black and green) is removable, allowing easy access to the battery for removal.

In terms of measurements , the phone is 15.5 cm high, 7.3 cm wide and only 1.0 cm thick. Its weight is truly impressive considering the dimensions, being just 184 grams.

An unremarkable screen

The display of the Cubot P40 is somewhat modest for these times, but it will still be able to display multimedia content excellently. The IPS LCD panel has a 6.2-inch diagonal and an HD + resolution of 720 x 1,520px . This translates into a density of 271 pixels per inch, a somewhat low figure considering the size of the panel.

The glass has protection against scratches and rounded bezels ( 2.5D ) that give an important additional resistance to the mobile. A curious detail, and that is the result of the design with a front camera within a notch, is the aspect ratio of the panel, which is located in the somewhat strange figure of 19.5: 9 . Since videos are not natively scaled to this aspect ratio, they will have a black bar on the sides.

The Cubot P40 defends itself well with its Hardware

Definitely what makes the Cubot P40 stand out from the mid-range is its power and performance. The installed CPU is a MediaTek Helio A20 quad-core Cortex A53 chip that reaches speeds of up to 1.8GHz . Accompanying it in the graphics reproduction is a PowerVR GE8300 GPU with decent results. Finally, to achieve smooth content playback, as well as to be able to use a considerable number of applications at the same time, the terminal includes 4GB of RAM , enough to use any App.

Its internal memory is ideal for those who want to get the most out of the phone, since it has 128GB that can be expanded by means of a Micro SD card of up to 128GB.

With regard to connectivity , the Smartphone covers the fundamental mobile networks of today, reaching up to 6 4G bands. Wi-Fi is also a strong point thanks to the 2.4 / 5 GHz dual-band configuration, all under 802.11 a / b / g / n protocols. Bluetooth version 4.2 is also included, which without being the latest, still offers exceptional transfer speed. And as if this were not enough, the manufacturer has equipped the product with NFC to facilitate the use of bank cards.

Cubot P40 - Superior Design

Ideal cameras for photo fanatics: Cubot P40, the ideal combination in a mid-range Smartphone

Fans of photography will find the Cubot P40 a powerful ally. Its main camera is made up of 4 sensors. The main one is a 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor , which has a pixel size of 1.25 µm. The Macro lens is not far behind thanks to its 5MP, while the wide angle goes down to 2MP. Finally, a 0.3MP sensor will be in charge of achieving the Bokeh effect in the photographs.

Cubot P40 - Front camera

The front camera boasts a powerful 20MP sensor , surpassing even the full resolution of the rear. With this one, amazing selfies are easily achieved, although you will need the right amount of light.

Software and Autonomy: Cubot P40, the ideal combination in a mid-range Smartphone

A positive aspect of the Cubot P40 is its software. This includes Android 10 out of the box , so you won’t have to go through tedious update processes to be able to enjoy the latest content or the latest security options.

At the level of autonomy, the Smartphone can withstand a day of intense use without problems thanks to its large 4,200mAh battery . Unlike other mobiles, whose battery is practically irreplaceable if you don’t have the right tool, the one in the Cubot P40 is easily removable in case it needs to be changed. Fast charging has even been incorporated, improving an existing lack in other models of the manufacturer, such as the Cubot Note 20 Pro .
