OnePlus patents a front camera on the top bezel

OnePlus is a manufacturer that constantly focuses on optimizing its cameras in each new season, either in their general quality (as expected in the future OnePlus 9 Pro ) or in the way they are presented in relation to the general design of the mobile. . For example, new patents show the brand’s interest in better implementing its front cameras.

This week’s news focuses on a patent that OnePlus Technology (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. filed with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) in mid-2020 titled “display devices.” Because it was only published on February 4, 2021, several media have echoed this idea beyond not being sure when it could materialize.

As can be seen in the patent documentation, the front camera would once again be on the bezel of the phone instead of joining the surface of the same screen in a hole as seen in most recent releases. Of course, far from having to increase the thickness around the panel, here it would be positioned on the almost imperceptible upper frame.

It is worth noting that the image that accompanies the news corresponds to a render made by the LetsGoDigital medium based on how it would look in line with the next OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro phones , although there is still no information on a real presence in a future launch of the manufacturer .

On the other hand, the patent indicates that this solution is cheaper than creating a hole in the display panel, while at the same time the performance and reliability are higher. And of course, the general design of Smartphones would look better to the naked eye without having to ignore the market trend of completely eliminating the edges of the screens to gain immersion.

Finally, previously another Chinese brand such as Meizu had already used a similar design for its Meizu 16s Pro and Meizu 16T phones , although on that occasion their bezels ended up being thicker than what this design patent proposes, so they were not as attractive for the public.
