The increase in the size of smartphones (and their screen) may be the trend; But it is clear that within the market there is still demand for compact mobile phones, otherwise Apple would not have launched the iPhone SE or 12 Mini. In this sense, everything indicates that Sony will make a similar bet, and that is that the leaked renders of the  Sony Xperia Compact 2021 reveal their intentions. 

To give context, the last terminal in the Xperia Compact series was launched in 2018 … But since then it had not shown signs of life. Be that as it may, the brand is preparing to revive this series and the popular  tipster OnLeaks  gives us a first look at the new device.

The premise behind the Sony Xperia Compact 2021 is that of a terminal with flagship specifications, but with a small format, how small? Well, we would be talking about a 5.5-inch screen with a  notch  in the form of a drop of water .  

However, the renders reveal that the use of the front is not entirely optimal , at least not when we compare it with the iPhone 12 Mini. This argument is supported when examining the size dimensions of the Sony Xperia Compact 2021: 140 x 68.9 x 8.9 mm. 

Returning to the main topic, the images show us two cameras aligned vertically on the back , positioned just above a pill-shaped module. The presence of a lateral fingerprint reader is also striking, and what we assume is a dedicated button for Google Assistant  (although it could also be a camera shutter). 

The SIM card tray is on the left, and from the design we can see that it doesn’t need a needle to open. Also, a classic 3.5mm jack can be seen at the top, which   is always a bonus. 

Unfortunately there is still no information on the technical characteristics. We have only heard that the selfie camera will be 8MP and the main one 13MP , so we still cannot get an idea of ​​its performance. 

The last bit of information available speaks of a price close to 500-600 euros, so we expect it to have high-end specifications.
