Users report multiple problems with the OnePlus 8 Pro screen

This May 4, numerous reports began to emerge throughout Reddit and the OnePlus forums   that point out more problems with the new  OnePlus  8 Pro, which has been suffering from defects in its screen since the first units were shipped in April. Whether it is a Hardware or Software problem remains to be determined, as the arguments seem a bit contradictory.

Going into details, the 6.8-inch AMOLED screen that is present in the  OnePlus  8 Pro is presented what is known as  Crushed Blacks  in videos and images, that is, the dark tones look even darker and it is completely eliminated any hint of light in  dark areas of the video. The result is obviously a darker image or scene than usual with abnormal black values, as can be seen in the image:

Also, another percentage of users are affected by green tints and even by something similar to screen burns (when the image is retained for longer than normal). Such issues are most apparent when the OnePlus  8 Pro’s screen  is brightly at the lowest levels.

Software or Hardware Problem?

OnePlus originally  indicated in late April that all of these problems would be addressed with a software update, but unfortunately for many users, not all of their problems could be fixed by the May update. Subsequently, a user claimed to have been in contact with OnePlus technical service  and they would have confirmed that it was a hardware problem, so the remaining options would be the following:

  • Send the device for repair to a service center.
  • Return the device and wait for a refund.
  • Submit a replacement request on the official site and receive a new one.

OnePlus Response

The last we heard from  OnePlus  is that they were aware of the problem and  that,  according to their research, it is most likely that it is a Software problem and not a Hardware problem as indicated to certain users. Be that as it may, the company has promised to fix these problems with the OnePlus  8 Pro screen  through more OxygenOS updates via OTA  .
