LG Velvet, LG’s new flagship would arrive on May 15
According to reports from South Korean sources, LG has big plans for this May 15th. The company is apparently preparing to launch its new flagship, the LG Velvet, which would mark a new beginning in LG’s history and the end of the ThinQ series.
Goodbye LG ThinQ, hello LG Velvet: LG Velvet, LG’s new flagship would arrive on May 15
According to sources, this future LG device will not make use of Qualcomm’s flagship chip, but will instead bet on the affordable mid-range Snapdragon 765G ; still, this SOC is modern enough to provide 5G connectivity. The above mentioned implies a divergence from the traditional concept of flagship, so that could justify why the appointment of the G series would be left behind.
In fact, LG commented that the LG Velvet will be a “premium” device for the general public, which would not be designed to compete with the current flagships of Samsung or Huawei.
Returning to the main topic, the leaks point to a 6.7-inch or larger screen , which in turn would offer compatibility with LG’s dual-screen accessory. What we do know for sure is that it will feature a “waterdrop-shaped front camera and a fluid, asymmetrical form factor that is easy on the eye and on the touch.”
Regarding the appearance of the terminal, we really do not know anything beyond what is mentioned above. At the beginning of the year, popular tipster Steve H.Mcfly – better known as @ OnLeaks – shared via Twitter a series of supposed renders of the device, and for a moment it was thought that this would be the look of the LG G9 or LG Velvet. However, their veracity was denied by no one other than Ken Hong, LG’s CEO, thus ending speculation about their design.
For now, we’ll just have to wait and see what LG officially announces. Also, not long ago the company hinted that it had more to share regarding its next device, but so far it has not said anything else.
