The director of the Mortal Kombat saga assures that “it is not as simple” as wanting it and that’s it.
Hands down, two of the most popular fighting franchises are Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat . The desire of both communities to see a title that brings together the characters of these worlds continues and continues to grow. Ed Boon , director of Mortal Kombat, recently spoke about this people’s request, which grew spontaneously in recent days due to certain social media posts by Ed himself.
The decision must come from an agreement between Warner Bros. and Capcom.“It’s not something as simple as ‘people want it, so do it,'” Boon said. The director reminded the community that the decision does not rest entirely with him, but must come from an agreement between Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Capcom , something that has not been achieved to this day.
On the Capcom side, we know that they are in favor of crossovers, having clear examples such as Street Fighter x Tekken , and the better known Marvel vs. Capcom . Mortal Kombat has also gone through a crossover of worlds with Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe ; however, the saga’s known violence had to be drastically reduced for the title to exist. This could be the main reason why Capcom does not dare to confront Ryu with Scorpion.
NetherRealm Studios , those responsible for the development of Mortal Kombat 11 , confirmed that this title will no longer receive any more content and will focus on their next project . What will they be working on?
