Samsung W20 is announced in China as a 5G version of the Galaxy Fold
Usually mobile device manufacturers tend to generate some differences when naming their launches between the Asian and Western markets. Thus, on more than one occasion it is possible to find the same phone but with different names, something that has just happened with the Samsung W20 officially presented in China and that is clearly based on the Galaxy Fold .
As had been anticipated for a few days, in China Samsung would release a new Smartphone with folding capabilities, something that made many think that it would be a different proposal to what had already been appreciated in the current Galaxy Fold. However, in the end it seems to be the same model with almost imperceptible design differences and the addition of support for local 5G networks.
Samsung W20 Official Features: Samsung W20 is announced in China as a 5G version of the Galaxy Fold
If the specifications are reviewed, the most interesting thing is none other than the implementation of compatibility with Telecom China’s 5G networks as well as other infrastructures already established in that country to achieve this type of high-speed wireless connections.
For the design, it clearly continues with a foldable format in half, although for this occasion the quality control problems that led the Samsung Galaxy Fold to be delayed in its premiere until last September seem to be put aside . Mainly the frame has an apparently finer finish and at the same time more resistant than the original.
In technical terms, Samsung W20 has the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor , accompanied by 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, a battery with a capacity of 4235 mAh and support for both wireless and fast charging. For its screens there are no changes from a 7.3-inch Infinity Flex AMOLED panel and a resolution of 2152 x 1636 pixels that is complemented by a 4.6-inch HD + external panel.
Finally, the Samsung W20, which will be available in stores in China from December , does not forget to incorporate a triple 12-megapixel rear camera with an f / 1.5-2.4 lens, an ultra-wide 16-megapixel sensor and a telephoto sensor of 12 megapixels. Ahead, the 10-megapixel selfie sensor accompanied by an 8-megapixel depth sensor.
What do you think of the Samsung W20 ? Should I have included more changes to its features?
