Last week the new Google Pixels were presented , with interesting news such as the inclusion of a radar sensor that allows you to use the mobile using gestures. However, there has been something that the general public has not liked too much and is its  unreliability with the Pixel 4 facial unlocking. Images and videos of users trying this option with their eyes closed are already circulating on social networks … and the result is not nothing encouraging.

Perhaps you can think that it is practical and that this is synonymous with its good hit rate, but far from that, the fact that the Pixel 4’s face unlock works with closed eyes implies a  fairly significant security breach  . From what we have seen in social networks, in some terminals that run with the American version of the software, the option to enable or disable this particularity is included, but not in all cases it works, despite the fact that we have marked that it requires having eyes open to unlock terminal.

This can cause faces similar to ours to unlock the device or someone can even pick it up while we are asleep.

What does Google say about it?

For its part, Google has not been slow to comment on this controversy and has stated that  they are already working on a software update that will solve this problem.

Don’t expect it in the short term. The American company has set as a temporary objective that it  will arrive in the coming months and, in the meantime, they recommend that we use an alternative terminal security lock system (pin, pattern …) if we want to avoid accidental problems derived from an unintentional unlock while we are sleeping, a time when we cannot control what happens to the device.
