Gadgets want to save our lives and there are already some cases in which the happy user can give thanks for having worn an  Apple Watch on their wrist at the time of the incident. Google  wants to emulate its most direct competitor and offer a solution to try to help us in very specific cases. Now, we already know that the  emergency button of the Pixel 4  could notify the medical services if you cannot do it.

It would be a new function that would be included, in a first stage, in the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. In this case, we would see how a new option to detect traffic accidents would be added to its emergency application  , with the possibility of making an automatic call to the emergency services if the mobile detects that we have suffered a collision and we are not moving.

The operation would be very similar to that of the Apple Watch falls: if the mobile detects that we have had an accident, it will issue an alert for the user to indicate if it is okay. In case of not obtaining a response in a prudent time, the mobile phone would only call the emergency service and give them our coordinates, in addition to also contacting a family member that we have previously designated.

Only on Pixels?

Although this function of the emergency button of the Pixel 4 can already be seen in the Personal Security app of the Play Store, the fact that, for now, it only comes out with the new family of Google smartphones is due to the  need for specific sensors on the device.
