Oppo Reno series with angular pop-up camera and 10x Zoom announced
Oppo has presented in Zurich, Switzerland, the Oppo Reno series with wide-angle pop-up camera , 10x hybrid zoom and widescreen. There are 3 terminals in the Reno series, including a version with 5G connectivity that will hit the Swiss market at the end of May. These smartphones are characterized by their innovative design with a retractable shark fin camera, as well as their luxurious design with gradient colors and high photographic performance.
As mentioned at the beginning, we will find 3 versions of the terminal, starting with the Oppo Reno 5G and Reno 10x Zoom, the flagships of the series. The main difference is that one has 5G network connectivity while the other does not, but the rest of the specifications are shared.

These versions of the Oppo Reno adopt a 6.6-inch AMOLED screen with 19: 5: 9 aspect ratio and FHD + resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. It has a sixth generation Gorilla Glass coating and is 100% free of notches or perforations, taking advantage of 93.1% of the frontal space.
In case you’re wondering, the fingerprint sensor makes an appearance hidden on the screen.
Its design also gives a lot to talk about, especially for the angular pop-up camera system that serves to hide the front sensor, the earpiece and the flashes inside the structure. This design is shared throughout the series.
In this vein, the company assures us that it only takes 0.8 seconds to activate the mechanism and have the camera deployed at an angle of 11 degrees. In theory, the structure is capable of withstanding 200,000 deployments without failure , so it can last 5 years assuming the user opens the camera 100 times per day.
Nor can we miss the elegant design of the rear cover with gradient colors , and speaking of colors, it is available in ocean green and deep black with shades of gray and blue. This surface consists of 3D glass with a coating of Corning Gorilla 5.0 glass that has been subjected to a nano polishing process to ensure a smooth and uniform finish.
Technical characteristics and cameras
Both the Oppo Reno 5G and the 10x Zoom are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip , which is paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory (expandable via Micro-SD). The difference is that the 5G model will come equipped with the Snapdragon X50 modem. On the other hand, the battery has a capacity of 4065mAh and supports VOOC 3.0 flash charging .
In the photographic department we find a triple camera system equipped with a 10x hybrid zoom . Going into details, the main sensor is a 48MP Sony IMX586 with optical image stabilization, it is accompanied by a 13MP secondary sensor that provides 10x zoom and by a tertiary 8MP wide-angle sensor . For its part, the front camera emerges at an angle and uses a 16MP sensor with f / 2.0 aperture equipped with soft light and 2.0 portrait mode.
Oppo emphasizes the advanced functions offered by the photographic set, among which we can mention the 10x Zoom, the ultra-night mode 2.0 with artificial intelligence and HDR to improve night shots and reduce noise, and, finally, the ability to record video and audio in 4K at 60FPS with image stabilization.
The Oppo Reno series runs on the ColorOS 6 operating system based on Android 9.0 Pie.
Oppo Reno, the most affordable option
If instead we opt for the standard version of the Oppo Reno, then we will receive a mobile with a 6.4-inch screen and other substantial differences. First of all, the Snapdragon 855 chip is exchanged for the mid- range Snapdragon 710 , in turn, the battery capacity is reduced to 3765mAh.
Additionally, this version can be purchased in memory configurations of 6 / 8GB of RAM with 128 / 256GB of ROM. However, there is no external memory support in this variant.
Lastly, the rear camera adopts a dual 48MP + 5MP configuration , sacrificing the sensor that provides the 10x optical zoom. For its part, the front camera remains exactly the same in all variants.
