The Japanese archipelago, a unique culture
The Japanese archipelago, a unique culture
The Japanese writing system was invented by the influence of Chinese Buddhist monks in the 4th century AD.
For this reason, many Japanese ideograms come from Chinese characters.
The Japanese language is called, in linguistics, binder: the constituent elements of a sentence are glued – agglutinated – to each other.
In Japanese, there is no article, no gender, no number, and verbs are not conjugated according to people.
Most Japanese do not know all the kanji, since they come from Chinese characters.
Studying this language allows access to the knowledge of a unique culture in the world:
- master the Japanese alphabet: kanji, hiragana and katakana
- perfect your pronunciation
- learn to read in japanese
- validate your JPLT
- translate to Spanish
- get to know daily life in Japan
- the history of japan
- the universe of manga and Japanese cinema
- the fantastic world of Japanese videogames
- succumb to the flavors of Japanese gastronomy (sushis, miso soups, okonomiyaki, takoyaki, ramens, bento, tonkatsu …)
- a spiritual culture that inspires the “zen attitude! and respect for nature, flora and fauna
Learning to speak Japanese is also discovering the manga universe. The figures for literary production are incontestable:
- in 2008, 15 million sleeves were sold
- the turnover is almost 95 million euros
- more than 300 video games come from manga
- in 2002, the manga market accounted for 22.6% of the profits of the Japanese publishing industry
- 38.1% of the books and magazines published in Japan were manga
- one Japanese in twelve reads at least one manga per week

Manga known to the general public are very numerous, we cannot make an exhaustive list of this colossal production.
But almost all of us know the masterpieces of H. Miyazaki and the legendary Akira, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, One Piece or Ranma 1/2.
