Apple ships two thousand iPhones to cruise ship affected by Coronavirus
The technology industry is currently suffering the consequences of the coronavirus outbreak in China , from limiting product units due to the momentary closure of some factories to the cancellation of events for the press (for example, several brands have already dropped from MWC 2020 ) . However, Apple wants to contribute to the health sector and specifically to those who are stranded in Japan .
For those who are not aware of the latest news, a cruise ship has been stranded near the coast of Japan due to the spread of the coronavirus among a large number of tourists present . The latest data indicates that there are already more than 100 people who have been quarantined and logically many of them are foreigners, so they have serious communication problems that Apple will try to fix.
Two thousand iPhones to communicate with doctors: Apple ships two thousand iPhones to cruise ship affected by Coronavirus
Strictly, the Ministry of Health of Japan has launched an application for mobile devices that allows anyone present on the cruise to make a consultation with the doctors on board. Unfortunately, many of the people have not been able to download the App from Google Play or the iOS App Store because they are registered with an account outside the Japanese country.
Thus, Apple has decided to send a total of two thousand iPhones with the service of the local telephone operator Softbank in order to make use of the aforementioned health application. The official words indicate that “There will be a Smartphone unit for each of the passenger cabins and employee rooms of the cruise ship.”
Finally, it seems that these iPhones should be returned once this ordeal is over for those affected in said cruise , although taking into account the contagious environment in which they are, it is most likely that they will be discarded after fulfilling their purpose.
In conclusion, these are only the first news that link devices and technology manufacturers with the coronavirus , although unfortunately it only seems to be the beginning.
