Assassin’s Creed art director leaves Ubisoft after 16 years with the company
“It was a good home for me,” says Raphael Lacoste, who worked on the series since the first AC.
Udated: Raphael Lacoste confirms that he has signed for Haven Studios , the new company of Jade Raymond – original producer of Assassin’s Creed – who is currently working on a new exclusive PS5 game .
Noticia original: The art director of the Assassin’s Creed saga leaves Ubisoft after more than a decade on the company’s staff. Raphael Lacoste ends a 16-year career in the French company , a participant in the games of the saga from the first Assassin’s Creed to the most recent Assassin’s Creed Valhalla . “It was time to take another leap of faith,” said Raphael on his social networks.
He worked at Ubisoft since the first Assassin’s CreedLacoste did not mention anything about problems with the company, nor did it discuss new jobs. He simply talks about embarking on a new challenge : “It is not without emotions that I share that, after 8 Assassins , I have decided to embark on new adventures and challenges.”
As part of Ubisoft Montreal , Lacoste worked as an art director since 2012 . However, his work dates back to older titles such as the first game in the franchise , released in 2007. He also participated in Revelations , Black Flag , Origins , and Valhalla. Assassin’s Creed Infinity , the next chapter in a row, promises to be true to the saga , and offer a “high-quality narrative.”
Taking Lacoste’s words into account, it is difficult to know if he will remain in the video game industry. Time will tell us if we see him inside a new studio or if he has something different in mind.
