China would be slowing down the purchase of ARM by Nvidia, valued at 40 billion dollars

Sources say that the antitrust agencies have not even started the approval processes.

NVIDIA

landmark purchase was announced last September that promised to forever change the world computing and chipmaking landscape. We are talking, of course, about the purchase of ARM by Nvidia valued at 40,000 million dollars. A purchase that is not completed because, according to The Information and Games Industry shares , China would be slowing down its approval as much as possible .

According to the aforementioned media, industry insiders in China affirm that the country’s antitrust organizations have not even initiated a formal review of the purchase, which is a basic and necessary procedure for it to be carried out. The worst thing is that this type of procedure can last up to 6 months , going through three different phases. And given the scale of Nvidia’s purchase of ARM , The Information adds, it is very likely that the acquisition will have to go through these processes two or three times .

The Information cites opposition from Huawei and ZTE as possible motiveNow why is China slowing down Nvidia’s ARM purchase? Their bodies do not clarify the reasons for which have not yet begun to review the purchase, although it is almost 11 months and recently announced the aforementioned means speculates with a clear motive: that both Huawei and ZTE are opposed to the purchase , both being Chinese companies to which ARM licenses its chips without being exposed to the commercial restrictions of the United States (ARM is British).

Qualcomm’s opposition to the agreement is also mentioned , who are interested that the purchase does not go ahead in order to acquire a stake in ARM, if the company goes public. Likewise, in Windows Central they mention that the subsidiary ARM China and its CEO, Allen Wu, are immersed in an internal dispute to expel the executive, with several ongoing lawsuits. In short, the purchase of ARM by Nvidia grows dwarfs everywhere , and it does not seem that it will be completed anytime soon.
