The Chuwi Hi8 Air is presented as the successor to the Chuwi Hi8 Pro , however it should be noted that both have almost identical specifications, so it is then a redesign of the device. In this new version, the Chinese manufacturer opts for a CNC-cut aluminum frame, with a silver-colored cover that looks more elegant than the white of the previous model, and also has a thinner thickness, as well as a lighter weight. .

Similarly, the Hi8 Air maintains its concept with a simplified appearance, eliminating additional design elements to achieve a more flexible and compact shape. Its case is really compact and easy to hold in one hand, while the display panel is the same as on the Chuwi Hi8 Pro:  an 8-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16: 10.

Also, the panel’s brightness is 400 nits and it has 80% of the color range. It comes with dimensions of 20.8 x 12.27 x 0.8 cm and a weight of only 312 grams , lighter than the previous version and allowing users to feel like a smartphone. Regarding its connections, compared to the previous model, the rear camera has been moved towards the center and a speaker has been added at the bottom. It also comes with a port micro USB , a port  micro HDMI , headphone jack 3.5 mm , and a card slot micro SD memory .

For its part, the Chuwi Hi8 Air , has a quad-core 64-bit Intel Atom Cherry Trail x5-Z8350 processor, which has a clock frequency of 1.44 GHz (up to 1.92 GHz in turbo mode). Also, it has an  8th generation Intel HD Graphics integrated graphics chip with a frequency of 500MHz  accompanied by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC ROM memory , the latter being expandable with microSD / TF cards of up to 128GB .

Thanks to this hardware configuration, the Chuwi Hi8 Air tablet will offer users a smooth and optimal visual experience for all kinds of applications, regardless of whether it is in tablet mode or PC mode. Also, taking into account that it has special support for DirectX 11, the possibilities will be even more satisfactory.

Two operating systems in one device

Since it is a Tablet PC, the  Chuwi Hi8 Air  has two operating systems configured for dual boot, where the choice of one or the other will depend on the needs of the user. On the one hand, it comes with Windows 10 for users who use the tablet for work and productive applications. But for those who prefer to take advantage of the thousands of applications in the Play Store, it also has Android 5.1 .

As for the connectivity of the Chuwi Hi8 Air , we can mention that it mainly includes a Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 802.11 module in the b / g / n bands with support for 2.4GHz network. As we discussed earlier, it comes with a micro USB connector that will serve primarily as a charging port, a micro HDMI for video output (1080p) to an external display, and a 3.5mm audio jack for everyday headphone use. In turn, it supports the OTG function , which facilitates connection with other devices.
