CONFIGURE EMAIL ACCOUNTS ON ANDROID

We leave you a simple tutorial so that our clients know how to configure an email account that they have with us, on their Android phones.

We will have passed you the email accounts that you have requested and their corresponding passwords.

We will use the account “contacto@rananegra.es” as an example, this address must be modified by the name of the email account to be configured.

Here we explain how to create a new email account. You also have the option to modify an existing email account.

1.-Previous account configuration: CONFIGURE EMAIL ACCOUNTS ON ANDROID

To set up an email account on an Android device, click on the “Email” icon. Once you have indicated the address and password of your email account, press  Manual configuration .

You must choose the type of account. You can configure email by  IMAP or by POP3 . Select the one you consider appropriate. In this tutorial we choose the IMAP protocol.

IMAP so that all mail, sent and received, is saved on multiple devices. The emails and trays are not on your personal computer, but all the emails and trays are on the mail server

POP3 downloads all emails to your local device. The advantage is that you do not need to have a large storage capacity on the server, since the mail is downloaded to your device. On the other hand, if something happens to your device, it is stolen or the email account is deleted, you would lose the emails, since they have been downloaded from the server and stored locally.

According to if you leave the SSL security activated or not and if you are creating the account in Pop or IMAP; these are the ports that you should put:

IMAP server port: 143 / SSL port 993

POP3 server port: 110 / SSL port: 995

SMTP server port: 25 / SSL port 465 (if it is TLS: 587 but we prefer SSL)

If you want to configure your secure email account, you need to modify the input ports with SSL / TLS and the output ports with STARTTLS.

If you configure it without security, then the server is I want to buy domain.es, if it is with security, put the name of your domain.

2.-Main account data: CONFIGURE EMAIL ACCOUNTS ON ANDROID

Next, configure the incoming server and port, using the example of unsecured IMAP:

Now configure the outgoing SMTP server and port.

Once the email account is configured, configure the following options that may vary according to your preferences.

Finally, indicate the name that you want to appear when you send emails.

Modify an existing account

To access an email account and be able to modify its settings, click on the icon that appears highlighted in the following image.

Press  Settings .

In the list of email accounts, select the one you want to modify by clicking on it.

In the next two images you can see how the device shows all the parameters of the email account. You have to click on any section to edit it or check the box to activate or deactivate the corresponding function.

If you check one of the options in the “Server settings” section, you modify the parameters of the incoming and outgoing servers. Click on  Incoming configuration  to be able to view and modify the configuration.

Finally, access the “Outgoing Configuration” where you can modify the SMTP server parameters.
