Cubot C20 design: Cubot C20, a cheap mobile that is not for all audiences

At first glance, the design of the Cubot C20 already makes its intentions clear: it does not seek to aspire to the highest, but to stay at a point where, without great luxuries, it can meet expectations. With a construction where plastic materials and two colors,  black or blue , stand out, this Cubot model gives prominence to the camera module located at the back of the terminal, consisting of four lenses and a flash. Also on the back we have the  fingerprint sensor , in a position that is not the most comfortable or the most modern (better under the screen or on the side).

Its dimensions are  15.62 x 7.46 x 0.94 cm and its weight is  192 grams . A negative detail is the serigraphy of the letters on the back, which makes this terminal less attractive. But also on the front we see a somewhat outdated look. The use of the edges of the screen is not the best and its notch is too large for what we are used to seeing already in 2021.

In short,  a somewhat outdated and humble design , for a low-cost Cubot smartphone .

The screen is generous in size. It is  6.18 inches  and has a resolution of  2,246 x 1,080 px , not bad for the type of terminal that we have before us. It looks pretty good both indoors and outdoors and the brightness level leaves us satisfied. It is not the best screen, nor the one that consumes the least, but it saves the furniture quite well.

Regarding performance, it relies on a Helio P22 processor  , with eight cores and a 12nm construction, again, a somewhat obsolete model, since it was released in 2018. Along with it, a RAM memory takes control of the device. of  4 GB  and internal storage  64 GB , expandable through microSD.

Cameras, battery, security and connectivity

In addition to design, screen or performance, in order to assess the qualities of a smartphone, we must also focus on the camera, connectivity, security and battery. We are going to review its characteristics in these four sections.

The camera leaves us mixed feelings and, although we value the brand’s effort to bring us four lenses, we would have preferred a good one over four regular ones. As we always tell you, you should not only assess the megapixels to decide whether a camera is good or not. In this case, the Cubot C20 reaches  12 MP in the rear and  8 MP in the front, but the truth is that the results in practice are very, very modest. It is precisely this one of the points in which you will notice the difference between a high-end and this model the most. If you only want to take everyday photos to share on WhatsApp, okay, you will do fine, but if you are looking for something more top, we regret to tell you that it will not meet your expectations.

Regarding its battery, we have a capacity of  4,200 mAh , while in the security section we also find interesting data, such as  Face ID or the aforementioned  rear fingerprint sensor . They both work properly.

Finally, perhaps the section that has left us the most satisfied on paper is that of connectivity. Considering that it is a very cheap smartphone, this Cubot C20 has  4G, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and NFC . Very good.
