Dead Space Remake will not have microtransactions: “we have learned from mistakes”

EA Motive warrants that the game neither has nor will “ever” have micropayments.

Whether you call them micropayments or microtransactions , these monetization mechanics that have proliferated so much in the last decade have become the terror of many players. And with the announcement yesterday of the remake of Dead Space by EA Motive, many fans made clear their fear that Electronic Arts would implement micropayments in the game. Well, you can rest assured: Dead Space Remake will not have micropayments , neither at its launch nor “ever”.

That’s how blunt producer Phil Ducharme , from EA Motive, has been in his statements to IGN. Some of you will remember how Dead Space 3 became more aggressive with micropayments than previous installments. Which, coupled with other factors, helped make it the most divisive installment in the series. Well, Ducharme has made it clear that EA does not want to repeat its past mistakes , and that the Dead Space remake will not try to squeeze the wallets of its players.
