EMUI 10 is official, it will arrive on September 8 based on Android Q

During the Huawei 2019 developer conference , the company finally unveiled its new operating system, Harmony OS , but this is not to say that it can already afford to ditch Android entirely, at all. In fact, the conference was also used to officially unveil EMUI 10 , Huawei’s custom interface based on Android Q.

Android Q and EMUI 10 will reach select Huawei and Honor terminals from September through a beta version. Being more specific, the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro will have the honor of receiving the beta first on September 8 , which will be followed shortly after by more terminals of the brand.

EMUI 10: What’s New: EMUI 10 is official, it will arrive on September 8 based on Android Q

Huawei has focused primarily on improving the look and feel of the interface, with no major changes that warrant much discussion, but it’s still worth getting to know us. In this sense, the first change that many will notice is the color palette with low saturation, as well as the new font for the text called Magazine Design . This text design is characterized by the amount of white space it leaves around the headlines, such as the clock and date in the quick settings menu.

EMUI 10 - What's New

This font and color palette extends throughout the entire interface and applications, but even more interesting is the dark mode that is included with Android Q, and, as you would expect, has been perfectly adopted in EMUI 10 Huawei has taken care of polishing the default dark theme and has modified the color palette instead of simply inverting the black and white colors. Objectively speaking, it is a subtle mix between grays and blacks, but the result it leaves on the text and the backgrounds is satisfactory and ideal for reading without straining your eyes.

Animations are another key point in EMUI 10, Huawei claims to have remade the system animations to give them a more natural look and with physics based on the real world. Again, the difference is subtle, and the same can be said for the transitions between the apps, which now have higher frames per second, giving a more fluid feel. In this sense, the new animations of EMUI 10 are not intended to make the interface more attractive, but to make it feel more responsive and fluid .

Camera

As we mentioned in other posts, the camera app is perhaps the most notable change in this new iteration. To summarize, the old standard, vivid and smooth modes have been replaced by 11 new filters with more customization option, in addition, the zoom slider has been completely redesigned and a button has been added that turns the AI on / off.

Better performance

Beyond the aesthetic changes to the interface, the performance of the operating system in question has been optimized. According to Wang Chenglu, Huawei’s president of software engineering, the performance of GPU Turbo technology has been improved by up to 60% , as well as Turbo Link technology (70%) and EROFS ROM (20%). However, these figures are theoretical, so we will have to verify it personally before giving credence to these statements.
