Good day to acquire studies. This morning we woke up to a really long shopping list, as the Embracer Group had up to seven studios at once . These kinds of business movements are always interesting and can shape the future of the industry in more ways than one.
Now, it’s the turn of Focus Home Interactive . The company has announced that it has acquired Dotemu , the creators of Streets of Rage 4 , Another World or Double Dragon . The European publisher takes 77.5% of the French study for a total of 38.5 million euros.
Christophe Nobileau, CEO of Focus Home Interactive, has indicated that “the arrival of Dotemu marks a key step to accelerate the growth of the group ” and in the diversification of its areas of expertise. It points to Cyrille Imbert, the head of Dotemu, who will continue to hold his position and will become part of the Focus Home executive group. Of course, it reveals that the intention is to make more future purchases for Focus Home.
Imbert himself affirms that this purchase “was an obvious decision”, since “we share the same passion for video games, the same desire to improve”. It should be noted that Imbert points out that this union will allow Dotemu to continue creating AA titles and carry out ” future remakes or license sequels of the first consoles with 3D technology (early 2000s)”.
Apart from Streets of Rage 4, here are other current “me against the neighborhood” beat ’em up with cooperative mode for four people
Dotemu will continue to work on Windjammers 2 , Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Metal Slug Tactics , while new games will be announced in the coming months. $ 15 million is established as variables in this transaction, depending on financial results. The closing of the agreement will be total in September . Focus Home Interactive buys Dotemu, makers of Streets of Rage 4 and Windjammers 2
