Galaxy XCover 5, Samsung’s ruggedized mobile makes its return
Among so many Samsung Galaxy phones on the market, it is easy to forget the lesser-known series in its catalog, such as the XCover family , which is characterized by its rugged all-terrain terminals . In this vein, news recently reached us that the Galaxy XCover 5 was introduced in select markets, and without further ado, it’s time to meet.
Galaxy XCover 5, an off-road smartphone : Galaxy XCover 5, Samsung’s ruggedized mobile makes its return
First of all, the Galaxy XCover 5 -like its predecessors- is a device that puts strength and durability above things like performance or aesthetics, so let’s not expect a large screen or cutting – edge hardware, it simply isn’t the focus of the mobile.
With that said, the Galaxy XCover 5 offers an IP68 degree of resistance against water and dust , which means that it can be submerged in water 1.5 meters deep for 30 minutes without suffering mishaps. In addition to this, it meets rigorous durability tests conferred by the MIL-STD-810H military standard . Again, the latter translates into the ability to withstand 1.5 meter drops without problems.
Moving on to its screen, it has a diagonal of 5.3 inches and a simple HD + resolution of 1,600 x 720 pixels. As can be seen, it does not have a notch or perforation for the front camera, but a traditional frame to house said camera. It may look dated, but this screen is ruggedized and can be used with gloves on thanks to Glove Touch technology .
The only color presentation available for this mobile is black, and honestly speaking, it’s the only thing that suits its old-fashioned design.

Beneath its sturdy cover lies an Exynos 850 processor , which is accompanied by a reasonable 4GB of RAM and just 64GB of internal storage. Likewise, the terminal is powered by a 3,000mAh battery that supports fast charging through its USB Type-C port, as well as through the POGO magnetic charging pins .
The operating system of turn is Android in version 11, but obviously it is customized with Samsung’s One UI 2.0 user interface .
Moving on to the realm of connectivity, the Galaxy XCover 5 supports 4G LTE Dual-SIM, dual-band Wi- Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and NFC for contactless payments . Additionally, it ships with the Microsoft Teams Walkie Takie feature .
Finally, it has a single rear camera, which makes use of a 16MP sensor with f / 1.8 aperture. Meanwhile, the front camera stays at 5MP and supports 2D facial recognition.
Availability and price
The Samsung Galaxy XCover 5 will debut in select countries in Asia, Europe and Latin America, that’s all that Samsung has confirmed for now, so there are still important details to be confirmed. However, the terminal is expected to be priced around the 300 euro mark .
