After having obtained mediocre results in the smart tablet market, Google has made the decision to end its adventure in this market , as confirmed by a company spokesperson to  Computer World and Business Insider . This decision also implies that the company has canceled the development of two products that were still on the workbench, including the Pixel Slate 2.

However, the  original Pixel Slate  and other tablets produced by Google will continue to receive their software updates and security patches as normal.

It is important to note that Google’s confirmation was accompanied by another announcement, in this sense, the company will be ceasing the production of tablets to focus exclusively on the development of laptops such as the  Pixelbook  and also on Pixel terminals . However, the company said that the Chrome OS team will remain long-term committed to its partners in the tablet industry for all market segments, but will still not be making such products in-house.

There will be no more Pixel Slate devices: Google gives up on the tablet market, there will be no Pixel Slate 2

Recall that Google was working on two devices smaller than the Pixel Slate, both of which would hit the market sometime in 2020, but according to  The Verge , disappointing QA test results led Google to completely abandon both. devices.  

This decision by Google does not come particularly as a surprise, the last tablet to be released was the Pixel Slate at the end of 2018 , which received mediocre reviews, where the general consensus was that the hardware and design were on point, but that the software facet felt incomplete. 

On the other hand, the Google Pixelbook devices   have had a warmer reception from users and critics, and we even already know with almost total certainty that the Pixelbook 2 will reach us before the end of the year.
