Google Pixel Fold, sources point out that it is real and would arrive this year
The trend of folding smartphones is far from disappearing, in fact, we could say that it is just beginning. The other day we saw the launch of the Huawei Mate X2 , the first folding mobile with a periscope lens, and this time we received information about the folding smartphone that Google is up to, the Pixel Fold .
Going into the matter, the interest in this mobile that only exists in rumors has been rekindled by the leaker Jon Prosser ; who affirmed on Twitter that the Pixel Fold is a reality and -as if that were not enough- that it will hit the market at the end of this year or, in the worst case, at the beginning of 2022.
What do we know about Pixel Fold so far? : Google Pixel Fold, sources point out that it is real and would arrive this year
Well, in practical terms, very little, with the clear exception that Google has already paved the way for this type of terminal . In this sense, with Android 11 native support was added for folding devices with several possible folding patterns. On top of that, multi- window and multi-tasking app functions are being refined with each iteration and increasingly integrated into the Android core.
Unfortunately there is still no data on its specifications, but some rumors mention a 7.6-inch screen, this is based on the order of screens that Google recently made to Samsung, which may or may not be intended for the Pixel Fold.
It should be noted that Prosser is not the only source that places the launch of the Google Fold in 2021. In August of last year, 9to5Google said it had examined an “internal Android document” that stated that a Google folding phone, codenamed “ passport ”, will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Along these lines, DSCC analyst Ross Young also mentioned something similar in late 2020 , stating that the second half of 2021 would be an exciting time for the foldable smartphone niche. According to their sources, by then we will see “At least 3 Samsung models, 4 Oppo models , Vivo, Xiaomi and a Google model.”
