HarmonyOS, Huawei’s operating system, will arrive in 2021

We have been talking about HarmonyOS for more than a year  , the operating system that Huawei is working on, and now it seems that things have finally gotten serious. Richard Yu, CEO of the company,  has unveiled his roadmap and we already have it just around the corner. The work is well advanced and in addition, it comes to us with an excellent one: it will be available to  any manufacturer that wants to use it, not only for the Huawei firm itself.

HarmonyOS 2.0 SDK Beta Now Available: HarmonyOS, Huawei’s operating system, will arrive in 2021

Today, September 10, 2020, Huawei opens the  HarmonyOS 2.0 SDK beta for televisions, headsets and watches, in addition, the one corresponding to smartphones will be launched in December 2020.

At the press conference that Richard Yu has just offered, there was also talk about the possibility that  the first smartphone with HarmonyOS will arrive in 2021. It is inevitable to think about the month of March, when the new P50 series is expected to be received, which would be a real turn of the wheel and its total independence with Android.

OpenHarmony for any manufacturer

But, in addition, the company has also talked about  OpenHarmony,  the open source HarmonyOS that will be available to  any manufacturer who wants to use it on their smartphones. For now, it is available from today for terminals with up to 128 MB of RAM memory. In April 2021 the possibility will open for developers to use it on devices with up to 4 GB of RAM, while in October 2021 it will reach all devices on the market.

This is excellent news for both Huawei and the consumer. We are seeing the birth of a new ecosystem, in which everything will be perfectly integrated and that could be the perfect alternative to Android , the one that no one has yet known how to stand up to.
