Honor 20 Pro and Lite, the other Honor 20 Series models

We have traveled to London to see first-hand the new Honor 20 series. The smartphone brand has presented the new Honor 20 , Honor 20 Pro and Honor 20 Lite devices . Three well differentiated products to offer an experience adapted to the needs of different user profiles .

Same design, same satisfaction: Honor 20 Pro and Lite, the other Honor 20 Series models

As expected, the more vitamin version of the Honor 20 arrives with the same design that it has done in the standard model. So we are back with the dynamic holographic design. A truly beautiful finish with the use of Honor’s Triple 3D Mesh technology . To achieve this, the brand has established two steps to take. The first is to etch the surface with millions of miniature prisms. Next, the glass that covers it offers a colored finish with incidence of light. The Honor 20 Pro is available in Phantom Black, Phantom Blue, Midnight Black, and Sapphire Blue.

And what about the Honor 20 Lite? The most affordable version of the flagship uses a more conventional finish and practically identical to that seen on the Honor 10 . That is not to say that it is a negative, since it offers a very striking gradient color finish. It is available in Midnight Black, Phantom Blue, and Phantom Red.

The measurements between the two devices are almost identical. The Honor 20 Pro has dimensions of 154.7 x 73.4 x 7.95 mm (7.87 mm in the base version), while those of the Lite are 154.8 x 73.64 x 7.95 mm. The weight variation is mainly due to the implemented battery, being 182 g for the Pro version and 164 g in the case of the Lite.

Technical performance

In the first place we begin the review of the technical sheet of the Honor 20 Pro. A smartphone equipped with the latest chipset launched by Huawei, the Kirin 980 . This 7nm processor is a firm bet for technical performance, but also for AI functions thanks to its Dual-NPU. Also, this model supports GPU Turbo 3.0 graphics enhancer. A device that offers fluid use with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB storage, expandable with microSD.

On the other hand is the Honor 20 Lite. The light version shows a simpler technical sheet, adapted to its price. We have the Huawei Kirin 710, an octa-core with a maximum frequency of 2.2 GHz. It is compatible with the GPU Turbo 2.0 to offer a smooth visual experience with video games. Accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and a storage of 128 GB.

Both devices arrive updated with Android 9.0 under the usual customization layers of the brand. After the latest events with Google, there will be some changes in this regard. In the case of the Honor 20 Pro, the fingerprint reader is placed on the right edge of the smartphone, while the Lite opts for its placement on the back.

Another important piece of information is the capacity of your batteries. To perfectly power the Honor 20 Pro, the brand has chosen a 4,000 mAh battery with a 22.5W fast charging system. In addition, this model incorporates a graphene cooling sheet, thus dissipating heat more effectively. On the other hand, the Lite version opts for a 3,400 mAh battery that promises a long autonomy given its characteristics.

Screen and cameras

For a wide viewing experience, Honor has perforated its screen to eliminate the questionable notch that caused the sensation last year. With its almost non-existent frames, the Honor 20 Pro achieves a 91% screen ratio. But the Lite is not very misguided either with 90% but with a notch in the form of a drop of water. The Pro model incorporates a 6.26-inch panel with FHD + resolution and a 19.5: 9 ratio. For the Lite, the screen reduces its inches to 6.21 but maintaining the same resolution.

And what to say about the photographic section of the Honor 20 Pro. Without a doubt, one of the great sections of the smartphone. We are not exaggerating one iota to see that it incorporates a 48 MP Sony IMX586 sensor , with a remarkable f / 1.4 aperture to achieve bright photos under any lighting condition. It is accompanied by three other sensors with different optics. The first one is a 16 MP 117º wide angle with distortion correction, 8 MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom and a 2 MP macro sensor. A team of four sensors with an advanced AI scene recognition and image stabilization system.

The little guy in the series does not reach those heights, but he defends himself quite well. It has a main sensor of 24 MP (f / 1.8), another of 8 MP telephoto lens and a last of 2 MP. Get photos with AI scene recognition and stabilization, 120º wide angle and 480 fps slow motion video. Both phones incorporate a 32 MP front sensor with f / 2.0 aperture and AI beauty mode.

Availability and price of the Honor 20 Pro and Lite

The brand’s new products, recently presented in London, meet the needs of the two profiles to which they are directed. Its technical sheet is quite outstanding in the case of the Pro version , especially when knowing its sale price of 599 euros . Although the real bargain is in the Lite version with its juicy 299 euros.
