How to find a powered off or factory reset iPhone

We continue with our review of the novelties of  iOS 15 and although in the summary article we already tell you everything you can expect from it, we are revealing new features every day that developers who are already testing the beta are finding. One of them is the possibility of  finding a turned off or factory reset iPhone . Until now, it was not feasible to locate it in either of these two cases, so this option seems really practical to us.

This new possibility is part of the Search app  , a function that allows us to find a device from the Cupertino brand that we have lost. Before it gives us a yellow for not locating our mobile, our watch or our iPad, thanks to Search we can find the last location where it has been connected, so it makes the search much easier.

But this had a drawback to date and that is that, with the mobile turned off, the search was canceled. Now, iOS 15 allows it to be found, but it has a trick. And it is that when we turn off the phone, in reality with iOS 15 it does not turn off completely, but it continues to emit a very weak signal, which is what helps us to find it from the Search app.

Also, in case the “problem” is that we have  reset the iPhone to factory settings , we will continue to see it in the Search app unless we delete it manually.

Apple continues to work to offer users more security. However, this new function is raising some controversy, since in order to ensure that it is always reachable, the phone never actually turns off.
