Huawei introduces Kirin 810 with improved NPU and 7nm lithography
Along with the Nova 5 series, the Chinese giant has presented a new premium-mid-range mobile processor oriented to tasks that involve artificial intelligence, we are talking of course, the new Kirin 810 , which we can find driving the new Huawei Nova 5 of the that we talked about in a past opportunity. This chip is suce sor Kirin 710 and can boast a manufacturing process of 7 nanometer, thus becoming the first mobile platform midrange this lithography.
Huawei Kirin 810, high-end performance in the mid-range : Huawei introduces Kirin 810 with improved NPU and 7nm lithography
Going into technical details, the processor is made up of two ARM-Cortex A76 cores running at 2.23GHz , which are complemented by six A55 cores running at a clock frequency of 1.88Ghz. Accompanying the set we have a Mali-G52 GPU set at 820MHz.
The Kirin 810 incorporates Huawei’s HiAi architecture designed for artificial intelligence acceleration. In this sense, the main premise is its integrated NPU (neural processing unit) based on the DaVinci architecture, which is characterized by its high performance and efficiency in computational operations involving artificial intelligence and machine learning (Machine Learning).
Another important addition to the Kirin 810 is its own ISP ( Image Si gnal Processor), which in theory should improve photographic quality through the use of artificial intelligence . Additionally, gaming performance should also benefit considerably due to the presence of the NPU.
Benchmarks
Huawei paints the Kirin 810 as the mainstay of a new era of mobile computing, and while that sounds a bit pretentious, the test results obtained by the processor look quite promising.
Technically the Kirin 810 is a direct competitor to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730, but in tasks related to artificial intelligence there is no point of comparison. According to tests AI Benchmark -a metric recognized that eval u to processor performance and s Moviles Huawei new 5 reached a score of 32,280 , beating the Asus Zenfone 6 powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip, who ob your vo a valuation of 25,428 points.
For its part, the AnTuTu Benchmark also yielded favorable results for the Huawei Nova 5 and its Kirin 810 , obtaining 237 thousand points in the synthetic test , which places it above the Kirin 970 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 and 835.
If it behaves as well on a day-to-day basis as it did in the synthetic benchmarks , it is possible that the Kirin 810 will become a chip widely used by Huawei terminals during the second half of 2019.
