Huawei Mate 30 could arrive without Google services

When it seemed that the situation between the United States and China had calmed down, news comes from Mountain View. A Google spokesperson has confirmed to Reuters that the Huawei Mate 30 will not arrive with Google Play services or apps . This is a situation that should not worry users of the Chinese company, since there are alternatives (from the use of Android’s AOSP to HarmonyOS itself), but that would leave Google without an important part of the cake. Let’s not forget that Huawei is the second largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world and that losing the license to work with them would have a direct impact on the American company.

What can Huawei do with its Mate 30 if it does not have a Google license?: Huawei Mate 30 could arrive without Google services

A few months ago we told you that, if you have a Huawei mobile , you are not affected by any of the decisions derived from the blockade by the United States, since the products in stock will continue to be supported as they have been until now (in fact, only a few days we received the EMUI 9.1.0.193 update with the August Android security patches on the P30 Pro ).

The situation is more in the air with respect to the new generations and, based on the latest information that comes directly from the United States, everything indicates that we will see a Mate 30 without Google services.

Harmony OS could be a good alternative

How does the ban on using Google services affect? At this point there will be three options.

On the one hand, Huawei could use an AOSP version of Android , without the Play Store or the basic Google apps (Gmail, Youtube, Chrome…). To summarize it simply, the Android AOSP is the basis of the operating system, without the Google services that we associate with it so much. If the Chinese company opts for this, it would have Android, yes, but it would not have these services, so the user experience would be very different. Huawei could have its own application store (in fact, it already exists, AppGallery ) to try to solve this situation.

A second option is the use of its own operating system,  Harmony OS , which is already prepared and which could reinforce Huawei’s dominant position in the market.

Finally, there is also the option of delaying the launch of the Mate 30 family while waiting to see how the situation with the United States evolves.
