Huawei tablet design

The MatePad Pro can be found in two slightly different designs, which change the thickness and weight of the device. We have received the reference MRX-W09  which, like the MRX-AL09 and MRX-W29 , has a weight of 460 grams and measures 246 x 159 x 7.2 mm . In hand it is a device that is pleasant to the touch and comfortable to hold . It has rounded edges and the chassis has a smooth texture .

Lightweight and comfortable to use design

The front shows off the crystal-clear, glossy look of the screen that fills the entire front. The frame and housing of the model we have received is gray . This product is also sold in White colors ; Green ; and Orange .

The chassis has a matte finish

The terminal has buttons for power and volume control. The USB C input is located at the base and it does not have a jack connector . On the left side, facing the volume buttons, is the SIM compartment .

This Huawei product stands at the top of its tablets in terms of quality and performance. In the following sections we will analyze some of its outstanding characteristics.

Screen

The large display of this model, with a Screen-to-Body ratio of 90% , dominates the product, and welcomes the front camera (offset in one corner). The display of  10.8 inches diagonal, has rounded corners and frames ostensibly wide , so it moves away from the latest trends betting on endless screens attached to the edge.

4.9mm bezels and 540 nit brightness

All this ceases to be important when you turn on the device, which surrounds us with dazzling color and crystal clarity . The Huawei FullView screen floods our retina with 16.7 million colors and a WQXGA resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels

Performance

The foundation on which the power of this device is built is improved hardware that increases performance and has greater energy efficiency. The processor has Kirin 990 of eight cores , one GPU Mali-G76 cores 16 and, in our case, 6 GB of memory RAM . The result of all this combined is a superb ability to carry out any task.

The Huawei MatePad Pro has a couple of cameras. One at the rear, with a 13 MP lens ; and in the front, for selfies and video conferences , an 8 MP . Without being the strong point of the product, they perfectly comply with what is expected of them.

Battery, operating system and connectivity

The Huawei MatePad Pro has a fantastic 7,250 mAh capacity battery , also being the company’s first tablet to support reverse wireless charging . It is capable of offering up to 12 hours of  autonomy , and thanks to the fast charge , with only 30 minutes connected it can offer 3 hours of operation.

Its four-channel, four-speaker sound system is noteworthy, delivering quality acoustic details and powerful vibrations. In addition, it has five circumferential microphones that allow 360 ° noise cancellation and ensure that the voice is always heard clearly and loud.

The MatePad Pro does not have Google services on its system. Its software is EMUI 10.0.1 , based on Android 10 . It is very fast and always responds with speed to our interactions. It does not include too many pre-installed apps , and some very popular on Android are not present. Finally, note that the device offers excellent connectivity. Speed , stability and wide range are some definitions that apply to your WiFi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac , and Bluetooth 5.1 .

We cannot finish without referring to the couple of accessories that we have been given to test with the Huawei MatePad Pro . They are accessories that are sold separately, but that impressively boost the productivity and creativity of the tablet .

Comfortable typing and creativity with the pen

The smart magnetic keyboard connects with extreme simplicity to the tablet , providing a magnificent typing rhythm with its 1.3 mm key travel . It has double support angles , to adjust it against different lights and environments. Additionally, tapping the icon on the right side Shift button with the phone’s NFC sensor area enables multi-screen collaboration . It is also a protective cover for the device.

The Huawei M-pencil allows us to take notes or draw sketches

The Huawei M-pencil has a new hexagonal design that apart from making it more elegant allows us to write naturally. Everything appears instantly on the screen without lag . Equipped with 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity , the pen captures every nuance of movement when writing or drawing .

Huawei’s MatePad Pro is a fantastic tablet

The experience with the Huawei MatePad Pro has been really good. The device delivers on everything that it promises and can be expected from a tablet in its range. There is no doubt that it is a great tablet for the cost. The biggest obstacle that some users may find is the lack of the Google application store , especially those that come from an android device . However, Huawei’s application store continues to grow in variety and apps , so we have many options to take advantage of the MatePad Pro . In summary, for its great quality and performance, the Huawei MatePad Prowins our Gizlogic Gold Award .
