Shadow of the Colossus (ワ ン ダ と 巨像 Wanda to Kyozō ?, lit. “Wander and the Colossus”) is an action-adventure video game developed and published by Sony Computer Entertainment (SCEI) for the PlayStation 2. The game was published in North America and Japan in October 2005, and later in Europe in February 2006.1 It was created by SCEI’s International Production Studio, the same development group responsible for the cult hit Ico.
The game is about a young man known only as Wander (from English wanderer, (‘someone who wanders’), who must travel on horseback through a vast territory and defeat 16 giants, known collectively as “Colossi” (“colossi” in Spanish) to bring a young girl named Mono back to life. The game is unusual among action-adventure video games in that there are no towns or dungeons to explore, no characters to interact with, and no other enemies to The ones to face apart from the Colossi. 4 5 Shadow of the Colossus has been described as a puzzle game, as each Colossus’s weakness must be discovered and exploited before it can be defeated.
At Sony’s E3 conference in 2017, an exclusive remake of the game for PlayStation 4 was announced with renewed graphics and performance improvements developed by Bluepoint Games, responsible for other quality remakes such as God of War collection for PlayStation 3 or the most recent Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection This announcement was accompanied by a planned 2018 release date.
