Talking about hobbies allows us to find things in common.
Learning English also means being able to speak with English speakers and even with the whole world!
Passing the TOEIC or TOEFL, listening to the BBC, or adding “spoken English” to your resume is fine, but actually English, like any living language, is made for interacting with a native speaker or someone who doesn’t speak your language.
We are gifted with the word, to communicate with each other , congratulate each other, debate or find a solution to a problem. We must act the same when we are on vacation in Cambridge or participate in a language exchange in American English.
The total immersion is what works best when learning a language. But if you can’t afford to travel the world, remember that this dive can take place at home! How? With English television channels, series, movies, books and conversations that you can have in English in a cafeteria, in a bar or on Skype.
The goal is to learn English, think in English, and even dream in English. You will see that your vocabulary will grow on its own and becoming bilingual will not seem so inaccessible.
Having a conversation in English with a stranger for the first time is the same as in Spanish. We ask the same questions:
What is your name? – What’s your name?
How old you? – How old are you?
Where are you from? – Where are you from?
You come here often? – Do you come here often?
What’s your job? – What do you do?
What do you like to do? – What do you like to do?
Have you seen the last movie of…? – Have you seen the last movie of…?
Do you like this series? – Do you like this TV series?
Etc.
And to answer, it is not complicated at all:
