At the beginning of the year, Xiaomi showed on video what would be its first smartphone with a folding design, which will go head to head with the late Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X. However, this device has not shown signs of life in a long time. time … until now, since a patent has appeared filed with the Intellectual Property Office of the European Union , which describes a device with a double folding design that we have seen before.

That’s right, it is neither more nor less than the prototype shown by Xiaomi months ago, on which we have obtained new data corresponding to its design, including that it will have a triple camera.

Based on the sketches included in the patent sent to EUIPO, LetsGoDigital has produced a series of 3D images that help us to get an idea of ​​what this terminal will look like.

Based on the information provided by Xiaomi in its patent application, the device has a long screen that can be folded twice . As can be seen, the triple camera is located at the rear of the terminal , which generates the need to have the mobile fully unfolded when taking pictures or filming video. Also, there is no evidence of a front camera of any kind, although that could change later as more details are revealed.

Once the device is folded, it looks like a small notepad, although it is undeniably thicker than it first appeared. Moreover, the back cover of the case is slightly curved on all four sides , which gives the device a stylish appearance when folded. The bottom of the device shows a USB Type-C connection, but apparently omits the 3.5mm audio jack.

It is also worth noting that it is not possible to observe physical buttons in the sketches , an element that aligns with that shown by Xiaomi in its teaser. The same can also be said for the fingerprint reader on the back, but most likely it will sit under the screen.

Unfortunately, the images do not imply to which side (or sides) the terminal is folded, nor do they disclose the technical specifications that the mobile in question will have.
