New World dominates on Steam thanks to its closed beta on PC: it is the best-selling game of the week

Pre-orders, or “pre-purchases”, of the game grant access to the current closed beta that ends in August

Amazon looks to explore new frontiers this summer. And we are not referring to the attempts of its founder to enter space with a rocket from Austin Powers, but to the proposal with which Amazon Games seeks to turn around several years of unsuccessful projects. New World is the new PC MMO hitting stores in August and its closed beta seems to have caught on with gamers: in addition to its large numbers of concurrent users, New World has been the best-selling game of the week on Steam .

And it is that the reservation of the game on Steam grants direct access to the private beta , without having to wait for an invitation, which has propelled New World to the top of the list of the best-selling games on Steam . As Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad shares, Amazon’s MMO is in both the top and second best-selling products on Steam, for the week of July 19-25 .

Obviously, these are the Standard Edition and the Deluxe Edition of New World, respectively. In third place is the latest Rimworld DLC , followed by F1 2021 and the Valve Index VR headset . While that list corresponds to last week’s sales, New World continues with strength for the one we started today. If you head over to Valve’s updated list , you’ll see that the MMO continues to be at the top and with no signs of slowing down.

After a problematic development and some other delay, New World will be available on August 31 on PC. The game, as we mentioned before, has reached over 200,000 simultaneous players during its closed beta , which shows the success of the test. Although it has also had to face some problems, with users claiming that the beta of the game would have fried their RTX 3090 cards , something that Amazon clarified and resolved in a short time.
