HMD Global and Nokia have given their promised March presentation, which has served to formally introduce the new Nokia 8.3 5G, Nokia 5.3, Nokia 1.3 and also the classic Nokia 5310 , which makes an epic comeback in 2020. No preamble , this time we will briefly meet each of them:

The Nokia 8.3 5G has the honor of being the first mobile equipped with 5G connectivity from the Finnish company ; it bets on a large screen alongside the SOC Snapdragon 765 and a quad camera achieved in partnership with Zeiss.

Nokia 8.3 5G - Design

The Nokia 8.3 5G screen has a diagonal of 6.81 inches and exhibits a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels (FHD +) , which is the product of a 20: 9 aspect ratio and frames reduced to the maximum. It cannot be omitted to mention that Nokia has decided to bet on a perforation in the upper left corner to house the front camera.

At the rear you can clearly see a circular photographic module protruding from the surface. We will not find the fingerprint reader here as it has been moved to the right side.

Under the hood is a Snapdragon 765 chip that gives the terminal 5G connectivity and performance worthy of the mid-premium range. Accompanying the processor there are 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage . The latter is expandable up to a limit of 400GB via a Micro-SD card. Android 10 is the operating system of choice to bring this device to life.

Powering the Nokia 8.3 5G is a rather generous 4,500mAh battery . This battery supports 18-watt fast charging and uses a USB Type-C port to  recharge .

Nokia continues to boast of its partnership with Zeiss and makes use of a quad camera array on the rear. The main sensor has a 64MP resolution and takes advantage of pixel binning technology to obtain 16MP photos. Accompanying this lens we have a 12MP wide-angle camera, as well as a 2MP macro camera and a depth sensor with the same resolution. The set is capable of shooting 4K video and supports HDR natively. For its part, the front camera uses a 24MP lens with f / 2.0 aperture.

Without having an exact launch date, the Nokia 8.3 will hit the market “in summer”, as stated by Nokia during the presentation. In terms of prices, it was confirmed that it will cost 599 euros in its 6GB version . Additionally, the company indicated that there will be a version with Dual SIM in the future.

Nokia 5.3 : Nokia 8.3 5G tops HMD’s March announcements

The Nokia 5 series is finally renewed with the arrival of this mid-range mobile, which offers an excellent price-quality ratio. As expected, the Nokia 5.3 sports a 6.55-inch screen with HD + resolution and a “V” -shaped notch to house a selfie camera.

Nokia 5.3

Unlike the Nokia 8.3 5G, this device is more conventional and does have a fingerprint reader on the back, where there is also a round photographic module with 4 sensors and an LED flash in the center of everything. The color options for this terminal are more varied than the previous one, being available in black,  cyan  and light brown (sand).

At the Hardware level the Nokia 5.3 is powered by a Snapdragon 665 processor in combination with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable). The battery has a capacity of 4,000mAh and also supports fast charging through its USB Type-C port.

This is not a 5G device, so you stick with the classic connectivity options: 4G LTE,  Wi- Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The operating system is none other than Android 10 , which is already practically mandatory for all   2020 smartphones .

At the photographic level, there is a configuration of 4 sensors arranged on a circular module . The main sensor is 13MP and is accompanied by a 5MP wide-angle lens. The set also consists of a 2MP macro camera and a depth sensor with the same resolution. This combination relies on artificial intelligence to improve the shots and has interesting functions such as night and portrait mode.

The front camera stays at 8MP.

Availability and price of the Nokia 5.3

The Nokia 5.3 will hit the market at the end of April for a modest price of 189 euros . Likewise, it is expected that versions with 3GB and 6GB of RAM memory will arrive later, as well as with 128GB of internal storage.

Nokia 1.3, renewed basic range

In addition to the presentation of two solid mid-range smartphones, Nokia has also agreed to the entry-level range with the announcement of the Nokia 1.3, another mobile based on Android  Go . Going into details, this terminal is limited to the basics, but without making unnecessary cuts  , with a 5.71-inch screen without notch and with an HD + resolution of 1,520 x 720 pixels .

Nokia 1.3

The Nokia 1.3 has a humble hardware that is characterized by its input chip, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 with only 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via micro-SD up to 128GB). It is worth mentioning that the OS is the Go edition   of Android 10. On the other hand, the battery has a capacity of 3,000mAh and is charged through a traditional MicroUSB  2.0 port  . As can be expected from such an inexpensive terminal, there is no fast charge or anything like that.

In the photographic area we cannot expect much either, there are only two cameras, one rear and one front. The first has a resolution of 8MP and is accompanied by an LED flash, while the selfie camera stays at 5MP.

On an additional note, HMD has brought back the classic Nokia 5310  XpressMusic , which now serves as a basic feature phone . The look has been polished a bit to give it a more modern look, but overall it retains the same design as the terminal to which it pays tribute.

Nokia 5310, the return of a classic

At the level of specifications, there is not much to talk about, it is a basic terminal without Android that has a 2.4-inch QVGA screen along with a 1,200mAh battery that can last several days. It has only 16MP of ROM, but a Micro-SD card of up to 32GB can be added. It has a camera with LED flash, Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio and Micro-USB port.

Availability and price

It will be priced at € 39 in Europe and will also hit the market in mid-April.
