The Nubia Red Magic brand   is well established within the mobile market and the gamer community thanks to its competent gaming terminals, and now that the Nubia Red Magic 6 is here and we have seen what it is capable of, we cannot help but give it the attention that it deserves. 

For those who are not familiar with the mobile, the Nubia Red Magic 6 is a top of the range focused on games, which outlines a 6.8-inch screen with high refresh rate and touch sampling, also, it is a carrier of the Snapdragon chip Qualcomm’s 888, the most powerful SoC on the market at the time of this review.  

From the beginning we know that we are facing a terminal that is worth it, but is it worth it for you? That is something you will have to decide on your own, and perhaps this review will help with that.

Let’s see, if you know how the world of gaming mobiles is handled -or gaming products in general- you will know what to expect from it. It has a design that undoubtedly seeks to attract attention with its aggressive lines and LEDs on the rear cover, which, by the way, is composed of two glass plates on a solid aluminum frame.  

By the way, the LEDs are not just for decoration , as they can be configured to show notifications. 

With that said, we are pleased to know that the Nubia Red Magic 6 is not just a pretty face, as its construction also incorporates practical elements for its intended purpose. What could that be? Well, the terminal has additional buttons on the right side, which would become virtual g atlets when we use the terminal horizontally to play. We can’t put into words how wise this decision is, and gamers will certainly appreciate this inclusion. 

Another thing that gamers will appreciate is the characteristic slider of the mobiles of this series , which makes the Nubia Red Magic 6 go into play mode and the redmagic UI play area. 

It should also be noted that the Nubia Red Magic 6 is a bulky terminal, as we can see from its dimensions of 169 x 77.09 x 9.7mm. This may not affect users with large hands, but it will surely make playing for a long time uncomfortable for some users. 

Elite screen and sound 

The screen is another of the great successes of the Nubia Red Magic 6 and we had high expectations of it as it was a gaming smartphone. Going into details, it is a panel with AMOLED technology and a size of 6.8 inches , which offers us a FullHD + resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) and even more interesting: an impressive 165Hz refresh rate and 500Hz touch sampling . Since its main function is to play, it does not have a perforated or notch screen. 

Let’s see, the fluidity that those 165Hz provide is difficult to describe in words, but what we can say is that we are not aware of any game capable of taking advantage of those 165Hz at the moment and, in addition, having those 165Hz active at all times will drain the battery faster as everything comes at a price. 

Other highlights of the screen are: under-screen fingerprint reader, P3 and sRGB color gamut , blue light emission reduction options and automatic brightness. 

Normally at this point we already turn the page to the next aspect, but the Nubia Red Magic 6 is one of those mobiles whose audio department is worth praising. We are talking about a device equipped with stereo speakers and DTS Ultra X surround sound , which allows the mobile to accurately simulate the directional sound of a game or movie for total audio immersion. 

The Snapdragon 888 says it all 

When the flagship chip of the moment from Qualcomm is in a device, we already know what awaits us. In this vein, the Snapdragon 888 5G is paired with an Adreno 660 GPU, 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for an outstanding experience. However, we can get even more memory if we opt for the Pro version, which brings 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage to the table.

We do not have to put into words how powerful the device is, for that there are  benchmarks , and either in  AnTuTu or in Geekbench , the Nubia Red Magic 6 is one of the terminals that dominates the rankings. Obviously this may change as other flagships hit the market, but for now it is one of the best mobiles you can get to play Fortnite, Call of Duty Mobile, PUGB Mobile, Genshin Impact and stop counting. 

Battery and other features 

In another vein, the 5,050mAh battery provides a good autonomy on paper, that is to mention that its 30W fast charge (up to 66W with a dedicated charger) allows it to recover 67% in just half an hour (57 minutes for a Full load). However, when it is demanded at full speed, those 5,050mAh may not be enough, as many users agree that it has an exaggerated battery consumption when gaming. 

Oh, and unsurprisingly, the Nubia Red Magic 6 has a dedicated cooling system with a fan, steam chamber , thermal gel and all that paraphernalia that serves to promise us that the CPU temperature can be reduced by 16 ° C degrees, and thank goodness that it has all that, since when it is demanded to the maximum, this terminal can get extremely hot.  

Android 11 is the operating system of the day, but the RedMagic OS 4.0 layer  is on top. It is also a 5G mobile with the latest in wireless connectivity (Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-Fi 6E, NFC, GPS). 

Cameras 

At the photographic level it is not a big deal, after all, the emphasis of this mobile falls on the games, but it does not do it bad either, because its 64MP triple main camera has the Samsung ISOCELL S5KGW3 sensor . Additionally, it has an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro camera. Lastly, the front camera is about 8MP. 

The photographic and video quality is excellent generally speaking, but it passes without pain in the high range.
