The OUKITEL WP5 is a tough nut to crack, as denoted by its  adventurous design  made to take a hit. Its construction is composed of TPU plastic and polyamide reinforced with glass particles , in addition, the back has a texture with a beehive pattern that gives a premium touch to the device in terms of appearance. However, what makes the difference over the common smartphone are the reinforced corners that cushion the force of impacts and falls.  

As a result of the design and materials used in the body, the OUKITEL WP5 not only achieves an IP68 waterproof rating, but also meets the military standard MIL-STD-810G . In other words, the OUKITEL WP5 can be submerged in water at a depth of 1 meter for half an hour without suffering damage, as well as it can withstand falls on rustic terrain from 1.5 meters in height and withstand extreme temperatures between -55 ° C to 70 ° C degrees. 

Undoubtedly we are facing a robust mobile designed for industrial workers or athletes who need a reliable tool always at their side. However, the aesthetic factor is not neglected for that reason, since the manufacturer has endowed its creation with a stylized look with orange details on the back, where we can get a trio of cameras aligned horizontally next to a LED bar and also a fingerprint reader. 

It is necessary to warn potential buyers about the dimensions of the device, which measures  15.50 x 7.60 x 1.80 cm and weighs 286 grams , which translates into a fairly thick and heavy terminal, but how not to be when we talk about a  monstrous  8,000mAh battery. 

Display and other features 

The screen of this device is not bad for its price, with a 5.5-inch panel with an 18: 9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1,440 x 720 pixels (HD +) . In it we will not get any type of notch or perforation for the front camera (it rests on a common upper frame). However, what we will get is a state-  of-the-art Corning Gorilla Glass protecting the screen from scratches, bumps, dust and other external factors.  

Finally, it should be noted that the mobile has an additional side button whose function is fully configurable by the user. It can be used to make emergency calls, turn on the flashlight or open a specific app, such as the  compass  or the magnifying glass. 

Hardware and Features 

Under its tough cover, OUKITEL WP5 houses a processor  MediaTek  MT6761 as a center of expertise, which is based on a quad – core CPU running at 1.8GHz alongside a GPU  Power  VR GE8320 to 550Mhz. This set is backed by 3GB or 4GB of RAM always paired with 32GB of internal storage. The latter can be expanded up to 128GB via Micro-SD. 

As you can see, the set is not a big deal, but enough and plenty for the tasks of the day and does not leave something to be desired when we take into account its cost and how the rest of smartphones in its category treat its hardware side. 

On the other hand, the 8,000mAh battery is commendable from any point of view, since it brings to the table a minimum autonomy of 2 days, that’s right, at least two days with normal use. The only downside to having so much capacity is that charging takes 3 to 4 hours to complete to 100%. 

In terms of software, the mobile is equipped with Android 9 Pie, which is not bad since an update to Android 10 is planned. Moving on to the field of connectivity, we have everything we could expect: 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, USB port type C and also GPS, Glonass and compass to accompany you on your adventures. 

Cameras 

Finally, the terminal is equipped with a trio of rear cameras with a resolution of 13MP, 2MP and 2MP , respectively. Likewise, the set is accompanied by an LED bar composed of 4 lights, which can be used effectively as a flashlight. The company advises us not to point the flash in people’s eyes, unless you clearly intend to blind your friends before taking the photo. 

For its part, the front camera stays at 5MP and supports facial recognition through software.
