Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 Make Great Progress, Blizzard Says, But Still No Release Date

The Activision Blizzard subsidiary promises to offer more details on the games in the coming months.

In the midst of the crisis due to cases of harassment, abuse and discrimination towards its workers, Activision Blizzard published its financial report for the second quarter of its fiscal year this morning . And in it, the company led by Bobby Kotick offers a small update on the development status of Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2, the two major projects managed by the Blizzard subsidiary. Recall that, yesterday, the president of Blizzard left office as a result of these cases.

Well, in the press release with the quarterly results, the company talks about the upcoming Blizzard projects and their current situation. In the case of games like Diablo Immortal, as we have already communicated in other news, the Diablo for mobiles is delayed to 2022 . However, the next numbered installment progresses better. “Blizzard continues to make great progress with Diablo 4 and is devoting substantial resources to creating exciting in-game content that will spark interest for multiple years,” the report reads.

On the other hand, Overwatch 2 is also progressing well, and Blizzard promises to offer numerous details of the game in the coming months. “The development of Overwatch 2 has passed an important internal milestone in recent weeks,” they mention of its development. “Following a great response to the recent community update , the team is looking forward to unveiling more about the game in the months to come as it approaches the final stages of production .”

The latter denotes that Overwatch 2 would be close to finishing its development . However, for both the hero shooter and Diablo 4, Activision Blizzard does not publish a release date for the two games, or even a release window for either. With Blizzard employees on strike in the wake of the harassment cases at the company, and after declaring that they will continue the fight while there are no solutions , we will see if the company says the same of its developments when this quarter ends.
