The renowned South Korean brand has discreetly presented what is its cheapest 5G terminal to date, the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G , an interesting mid-range device that stands out for having a Super AMOLED screen without borders together with a Snapdragon 690 chip , a quad rear camera, and of course compatibility with the latest mobile network standard.

If you have followed the leaks, everything we will say below may sound familiar to you, since the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G has been talked about for a long time; If this is not the case, don’t worry, because we will refresh your memory.

The terminal consists of a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED screen with a waterdrop-shaped notch and Full HD + resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. Also, the panel has a density of 399 pixels per inch and incorporates a fingerprint reader for greater convenience when unlocking.

For its part, the back cover is made of plastic and exhibits a square module that houses 4 photographic sensors. As can be seen, the surface consists of a textured finish that covers three quarters of it.

Also, the available color presentations are: black, white and gray.

Hardware, features and cameras

As always, Samsung has not revealed the exact processor model that will mount the device, but since it was specified that it has an eight-core CPU (two cores at 2.2Ghz and six at 1.8Ghz) compatible with 5G, we assume that it is a Snapdragon 690 5G.

Either way, it will be backed by at least 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage or up to 6GB of RAM plus 128GB of ROM (expandable up to 512GB via Micro-SD). Powering the terminal we will have a 5,000mAh battery compatible with fast charging of 15 watts through USB type C.

At the operating system level we can obviously count on the presence of One UI 2.1 based on Android 10, while in the connectivity department there will be Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and even more interesting: 5G.

Moving on to the photographic realm, the Samsung Galaxy A42 5G can boast of having a quadruple main camera headed by a 48MP sensor, which is accompanied by an 8MP wide-angle lens , as well as a 5MP macro camera and a sensor of depth of the same resolution as above. Additionally, it is equipped with a 20MP front camera that, thanks to the selfie focus, turns almost every self-portrait into a successful snapshot.
