The recent revelation of the official price of the Sony Xperia Pro has made more than one pale, the recent announcement has placed the cost of this device at $ 2,500 , which is on par with mobile phones with flexible screens such as the Huawei Mate X and Galaxy  Fold  2 (or even above). The surprise is capital, taking into account that its predecessor came on the market valued at 1,119 euros last year. 

It was logical to think that the new model could cost something more than the previous version, which if it was not in the calculations was that it would practically double the price. Some comments that can be read since the amount was known is that it is at the level of the value of folding smartphones, but without being one of them. 

If you are interested in knowing what is in the Sony Xperia Pro that justifies its absurd price, you have come to the right place, but from the beginning we can say with certainty that it is not a mobile for all audiences. 

Sony Xperia Pro a questionable price but is it worth it? : Sony Xperia Pro: More than a mobile, an accessory for cameras with a price of $ 2500

Well, let’s start with its 6.5-inch OLED screen with 4K resolution and design without notch. What sells this terminal is its ability to double as an external monitor, since it has an HDMI port to connect it to a camera or other devices ; although it is clear that Sony emphasizes the former, since via USB it is even possible to control the company’s Alpha series cameras. 

Its semi-rustic design is also intentional, after all, the intention is to use the mobile mounted on some accessory or camera shoe. On top of this it consists of IP68 certification. 

We must say that its technical specifications disappoint a lot, since Sony has practically recycled its predecessor and has inflated the price. In this sense, it consists of the same Snapdragon 865 chip as a processor , which already seems outdated in 2021. Accompanying it is 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage, which does represent an improvement, but not enough to justify its purchase.  

The 4,000mAh battery does not change and neither does the operating system that is installed at the factory, which is Android 10. 

Where we do find substantial changes is in the connectivity department, since the Sony Xperia Pro consists of a system of four 5G antennas and supports  millimeter wave ( mmWave ) and Sub-6 technology. 

The Sony Xperia Pro is pretty good on the photographic front, but again, it doesn’t beat its predecessor’s bet, it just repeats it. Here you have a 12MP main camera, a 12MP wide-angle camera , a 12MP telephoto lens, and a ToF sensor. Lastly, the front camera is 8MP.

Availability and price 

The price we already know, but an arrival in Europe is not currently among Sony’s plans. For now, the Sony Xperia Pro will remain exclusive to the United States, where it is already on sale.
