The best apps to learn Japanese characters
Use various means of learning to improve your chances!
You can also learn Japanese thanks to the different applications that allow you to memorize the Japanese alphabet while having fun so that your learning is fun and interesting.
There are many applications of Japanese and not all of them are the same for learning Japanese writing . Of course, none of them can replace a teacher and a face-to-face Japanese class, but these tools can help you progress, even when riding public transport or in a waiting room. Instead of hanging out on social media, you can use that time for something more useful.
Here are five apps for learning to write in Japanese :
- Obenkyo: Available in English and French on Android, you can learn hiragana, katakana, but also Chinese kanji characters embedded in Japanese (classified as for the JLPT, the Japanese aptitude test).
- Kanji Recognizer: Available in English on Android, the application allows you to assimilate Japanese vocabulary words while learning to recognize and draw Japanese kanji. You just have to reproduce a kanji that you know and the application will give you its meaning and the order of the drawing, as well as its equivalent in kana if it exists.
- Hiragana Quest: available on Android and iOS, only in English, the application uses mnemonic rules to facilitate your learning of the language and characters. Designed like a game, the app even offers you to track your progress using pets.
- Kanji Study: possibly the most complete application to learn kanji, hiragana and katakana. You can learn and review using flashcards, quizzes, or writing challenges after setting your goals. Each character has a file that describes it, explains its different readings, shows the words associated with it, example sentences and other similar characters with which you can get confused.
- JA Sensei : with this complete app, you will be able to learn the alphabet and go further in your learning of Japanese, learning vocabulary, verbs, adjectives, etc. Detailed modules allow you to review or learn the Kana, as well as their pronunciation and writing.
Of course, there are other more general apps for learning Japanese that also focus on learning kana and kanji. It’s up to you to try them and choose the one you like the most!
