The new Huawei Nova 5, Nova 5 Pro and Nova 5i are already with us
Huawei has announced the launch of the Nova 5 series, made up of three terminals: the Huawei Nova 5, Nova 5 Pro and Nova 5i respectively, as well as its new Kirin 810 mobile platform and the MediaPad M6 tablets . In this post we will concentrate on meeting the new new 5 series, which boasts of having four cameras, car g flash and reasonable prices.
Huawei Nova 5 Pro, the flagship of the fleet : The new Huawei Nova 5, Nova 5 Pro and Nova 5i are already with us
The Nova 5 Pro is positioned as the premium option, with the Kirin 980 chip, the same one used by the Huawei P30, but let’s not get too far ahead. First, the terminal sports a 6.39-inch AMOLED screen with a FHD + resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels (19.5: 9 aspect) and a recurring notch in the form of a drop of water on top.
The device comes available in four assorted colors: green, purple, black, and orange. A vertically arranged quad camera with artificial intelligence can be seen on the rear deck. We won’t find the fingerprint sensor here, as it’s actually on the screen itself.
In terms of hardware, the device is powered by the eight-core Kirin 980 chip , which is complemented by 8GB of RAM and 128 / 256GB of internal storage (expandable using Huawei’s NMCard). The set is complemented by GPU Turbo 2.0 graphics acceleration technology and powered by a 3,500mAh battery with 40W ultra fast charge, which promises to charge the phone to 100% in just 50-60 minutes.
Like all Huawei terminals in 2019, the Nova 5 Pro works with EMUI 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie . It is important to note that the Nova 5 Pro has NFC connectivity , something exclusive to it.
Regarding its praiseworthy photographic section, we find a quadruple configuration made up of a 48MP main camera , a 16MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro sensor and, finally, a 2MP depth sensor. On the other hand, the selfie camera is about 32MP with a pixel size of 1.6 μm and f / 2.0 aperture.
The set is equipped with the latest in photographic functions, such as artificial intelligence to improve shots, HDR + , scene recognition and bokeh effect.
Huawei Nova 5
Then we have the Huawei Nova 5, which looks a lot like its older brother except for a few crucial differences that we will explain below. The display and design remain unaltered, so the differences are solely at the hardware level.
The Huawei Nova 5 becomes the first mobile to use the Kirin 810 chip , which is the first mid-range SoC with a 7-nanometer manufacturing process . It has six Cortex A55 cores that run at 1.88Ghz and two Cortex A76 cores that operate at a frequency of 2.27Ghz. However, the most interesting thing comes in the form of the integrated DaVinci NPU , which is dedicated to processing tasks that involve artificial intelligence, which should lead to better camera and gaming performance.
Returning to the main topic, the Huawei Nova 5 retains the rest of the configuration of the Nova 5 Pro, but with the difference that it only comes in one memory option: 8GB of RAM + 128GB of internal storage .
Huawei Nova 5i
Finally, we have the Huawei Nova 5i, the younger brother if you want to see it that way. This sports a 6.4-inch screen with a resolution of 2,310 x 1080 pixels and a 19.25: 9 aspect ratio . From there we can already find differences, since , instead of a notch , the screen is presented with a hole to house the selfie camera .
It is also worth noting that the screen uses an LCD type panel, as opposed to the OLED type used in the Huawei Nova 5 and Nova 5 Pro. In addition, it does not have a fingerprint reader integrated in it, but in the back cover as of custom.
In terms of hardware, the Huawei Nova 5i is positioned in the standard mid-range, being powered by an old acquaintance, the Kirin 710 , which is combined with 6 / 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage . The latter is expandable up to a maximum of 512GB, and unlike its brothers, it supports Micro-SD cards instead of Huawei’s new NMCards.
The battery receives a slight increase in capacity, reaching 4,000mAh . However, it only supports 10W load.
The quad camera setup remains , but employing lower resolution sensors. Going into details, the main one is 24MP with f / 1.8 aperture, the ultra-wide angle lens is 8MP and the remaining two are 2MP with f / 2.4 aperture. Likewise, the selfie camera also carries a 24MP sensor with f / 2.0 aperture
