The next Honor processors could be from Mediatek

Last week we told you about the  United States’ ban on TSMC serving its chips to Huawei . In view of this news, we are waiting to see what the next move of the Chinese company would be and it has already arrived. It has been the president of Honor himself, Zhao Ming, who has put on the table the possibility that the next  Honor processors are from  Mediatek , another of the great SoC manufacturers for this type of device.

Processors of Honor signed by Mediatek, the future of the company?: The next Honor processors could be from Mediatek

It is not at all unreasonable that Honor tries to rely on Mediatek to try to save its division and can continue to manufacture its smartphones. Zhao Ming has stated that  Huawei’s / Honor relations with Mediatek are very good and that they will seek to collaborate in the future. These statements come at the same time as the TSMC’s ban on serving its chips to the company is known.

We remember that Huawei manufactured its own processors, called Kirin, but used TSMC chips for this. Therefore, the Kirin chipsets for now would be displaced to a second place, waiting to find an alternative or to resume relations with the United States and while a good solution would be to join forces with Mediatek.

Mediatek’s popularity has dropped in recent years in favor of other firms such as Qualcomm, Exynos or Kirin himself, but the Chinese company continues in the race. In fact, it has focused its latest advances on the incorporation of 5G to all ranges, from the cheapest to the premium ones.

We will be waiting to see how this situation is resolved and what path Honor takes for its next releases, if Mediatek’s participation in its new smartphones is finally confirmed or if they opt for another option.
