The OnePlus 7 Pro will not have IP certification, but it will be waterproof
One feature that OnePlus fans have always asked for , but have never been given, is IP certification for their mobiles. OnePlus has recently revealed that the OnePlus 7 Pro will not have IP certification either , but that it will still be waterproof … up to a point, being able to submerge in a bucket of water and continue to work, although we recommend NOT to do so.
The OnePlus 7 Pro will be water resistant … more or less : The OnePlus 7 Pro will not have IP certification, but it will be waterproof
In the 30-second teaser shared by the company , the terminal is shown taking a good dip in a bucket of water, in it it is stated that the “water resistance certification costs you money” , which objectively speaking is true, reason why they have decided to do without it.
However, the terminal will be waterproof, as it was seen in the short video above. Plus, however, the company cautions against attempting this at home, as the warranty does not cover damage caused by liquids . The aforementioned should not come as a surprise to anyone, since even manufacturers that include IP certification against water in their terminals do not extend their warranty to damage caused by liquids .
In an official statement posted on the OnePlus official forum , Carl Pei, co-founder of the company, elaborated more on the subject. The executive explained that OnePlus’ goal has always been to do the right thing based on what users need and not the industry. From their point of view, the IP certification does not help them communicate the experience that the OnePlus 7 series will offer . Instead, they have chosen to create this video.
On the other hand, OnePlus warns that this video is not about a Bucket Challenge or anything like that , and that if you submerge your shiny new OnePlus 7 Pro in a bucket of water, they won’t repair it for free, even if it still has the current warranty.
As a reminder, the OnePlus 7 Pro will be officially presented this May 14 in New York , and despite not having come out yet , it can already boast of having an A + level screen endorsed by DisplayMate .
