What is Pinyin?

As you probably already know, it was not long since China opened up to the world. And this translates into a true linguistic revolution known as “Pinyin” , that is, the transcription of the Chinese language into the Roman alphabet.
It was invented by Zhou Yougouang, and it took until 1979 for the International Organization for Standardization of the People’s Republic of China to officially consider this language a “Romanization of Mandarin”.
A great advance towards getting closer to Western countries and their Roman alphabet, but also towards the literacy of the Chinese population (which today is 95%, according to UNICEF).
Therefore, from that moment the Chinese use 25 of the 26 letters of the Roman alphabet (there is the V, although it really is useless).
You will discover that Pinyin is made up of 5 tones and that consonants have their particularities in terms of their pronunciation.
