WhatsApp Single View, what is it and how does it work?
You will like the new WhatsApp feature. And a lot. This is what they have dubbed the Unique WhatsApp View , which is nothing more than the possibility of sending photos or videos that disappear from the chat after the recipient opens them only once. In this way, the popular instant messaging app “copies” one of the star features of its greatest rival, Telegram , and takes a step forward in protecting the privacy of its users.
How WhatsApp Single View works: WhatsApp Single View, what is it and how does it work?
It has its lights and shadows, the truth is that it is not a perfect method and we see some gaps. The photo self-destructs once opened and is not saved in the recipient’s gallery , but, and here comes the big mistake, screenshots can be taken and the sender will not be notified . This is an epic fail that demolishes the intention of the WhatsApp Single View, so we recommend that you continue to be careful when sending sensitive content that you do not want someone else to have or that may start circulating.
Because, although it is true that it does not allow to be forwarded or seen several times, if the screenshots are enabled it does not make much sense. Anyway, this is a problem that happens even if screen recording is not allowed, because it would be enough to have another device at hand and take a photo of the screen before the image disappears to keep the material.
WhatsApp also warns us that we can only know if the recipient has seen the photo if they have the blue tick active and that, if they do not open it in 14 days, it will disappear from the chat to which you have sent it.
