Where to stay to travel to Lisbon?

We have already come to one of the most complicated questions of any trip: the issue of accommodation, arriving and not knowing which are the neighborhoods of Lisbon where you can book a cheap hotel, an apartment or a room with a host family …

I live in Bairro Alto. The sunsets are dreamy. The tram goes down the street. For the party, without a doubt, it is the best neighborhood.

Although we know that the price of the standard of living is more affordable in Portugal, housing can be quite expensive in Lisbon.

Even if the flight with Ryanair has cost you € 50 round trip, accommodation can be a big problem on the budget, especially in summer.

Where and how to stay in Lisbon ?

For short stays, the Abritel, Airbnb and Booking platforms will be the tour guide of the city of the urban camp .

If you are coming for several months, try to rent an apartment: in the city center of Lisbon, prices can go up to € 1,500 per month! – in specialized Portuguese portals such as Sapo, OLX or Idealista.

Admittedly, owners are taking advantage of the tourist boom to raise their rents.

The law of supply and demand, when out of balance, is relentless!

Playing the Airbnb card often makes it possible to enjoy an apartment like home, in complete privacy, while enjoying the city’s must-see spots, nightlife, and restaurants.

Downtown Lisbon is the best place to stay : Alfama, Baixa, Chiado, Bairro Alto, but it is also where prices are highest.

So avoid booking at the last minute!

On Airbnb and Abritel (a little more expensive but also more luxurious), we will enter information about the dates, the number of travelers and the desired amenities: Wi-Fi, air conditioning, parking, etc., as well as the price criteria.

An interactive map allows you to see at all times where the house and the rent are: it is an ideal solution.

Calculate between € 50 and € 150 for two people depending on the season (low, medium, high) in the downtown neighborhoods.

On Booking.com, you’ll find the best hotels, but most of them cost more than € 100 per night, especially in the historic center of Lisbon.

If it is due to lack of budget, opt for hostels! There are youth hostels in the center (from € 25 for two people), yes, the lowest prices are usually for beds in shared dormitories.
