On October 13, the new iPhone 2020  was presented  virtually, due to current circumstances. An online event that, following in the wake of previous keynotes, stood out for its excellent production and the innovations shown on its phones. One of the novelties that has not been particularly well received among users is that, due to environmental policies of the company,  the boxes of the new iPhone 12 will not include accessories , such as the charging adapter or headphones.

However, the juiciest thing about this news is that in certain markets, such as France, they do include them. What’s going on? To understand it, we have to take a look at the  current legislation in that country .

As we said, the reason is simple. It is not that Apple wants to give a favorable treatment to the French country, but that they are  required by law . According to local laws,  manufacturers of mobile devices are required to include headsets and manuals , which must clearly explain how to use these accessories and, one step further, recommend their use.

The explanation lies in the fact that French laws want to protect the hands from exposure to electromagnetic radiation by using hands-free equipment that allows the electronic emitting device to be kept away from the head. Therefore,  all devices that include radio equipment must include wired headphones for free in their box.

Apple’s response

Apple has not resisted and  will comply with the law . In fact, as can be seen on the official website of the company in France, in the content section of the box you can see that the smartphone itself will come, accompanied by the USB C to lightning charging cable and some Earpods headphones.
