The presentation of the new  Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G has brought a very curious peculiarity, which Google itself has wanted to clarify publicly. We are talking about the filters of  the beauty mode of the photographs , which are deactivated by default, in order to use the words of the Mountain View company, “to protect the mental health of the users”. What are they referring to? We will tell you.

There was a time when it became fashionable for all photos to come out automatically with filters, with beauty mode, with retouching … Perfect. However, while some users reject this as also giving a feeling of artificiality, Google has raised the hatchet against this, alluding to the fact that it  creates a negative psychological effect on the user.

Comparing reality with photographs can cause mental health problems in people, by not seeing the expected results in the mirror. Taking pictures always with beauty mode activated can alter reality.

Therefore, in the new  Google Pixel of 2020 these filters are deactivated by default. Of course, users are free to retouch their photos as they wish and will have to do it manually. This simple gesture, although it causes a “waste” of time, makes the person behind the mobile aware that all these changes are being made through retouching and always have visible which is the original photograph and, therefore, which one is reality.

Will other manufacturers implement it?

In addition to doing it in its own terminals, the American company is “encouraging” other manufacturers to replace the word  beauty in the photographs with another one closer to “filter” or “retouching”, in addition to  deactivating them automatically . They will do it? For now, no one has commented on the matter. Perhaps, waiting to see what reception this novelty has in the Pixel 5.
